Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has established a system called DIRBS (Device Identification, Registration, and Blocking System) to manage the use of mobile devices within the country. If you want your mobile device to operate on Pakistani mobile networks, you must register it with PTA. This ensures that only legal and approved devices are used, which enhances network quality and security.
Who Needs to Register?
- Overseas Pakistanis and Foreign Nationals: If you are visiting Pakistan and want to use your mobile device, you can register it temporarily for 120 days. After this period, if you visit Pakistan again, you will need to re-register the device.
- Residents and Local Users: If you live in Pakistan and have bought a new device locally or imported one, you must register it with PTA to avoid any service interruptions. If your Phone is Blocked you Can Unblock Your Phone from PTA for Free.
Steps for Online Registration
Registering your mobile device with PTA is straightforward. Here’s how you can do it:
Step 1: Access the DIRBS Portal
- Start by visiting the DIRBS portal on PTA’s official website (dirbs.ptfa.gov.pk).
Step 2: Sign Up or Log In
- If you are a new user, you need to create an account. Provide details like your email, phone number, and passport number (for foreigners) or CNIC (for residents).
Step 3: Provide Device Details
- Enter the IMEI number of your device. You can find this by dialing *#06# on your phone. If your device has multiple SIM slots, you will need the IMEI numbers for all slots.
Step 4: Application and Payment of Tax
- Depending on your device’s value, there will be a tax applicable. Once you fill in all the details, the system will generate a Payment Slip ID (PSID) that you can use to pay the required tax via online banking, ATMs, or bank branches.
Step 5: Confirmation
- After completing the payment, you will receive a confirmation via SMS or email from PTA. This confirms that your device is registered and compliant with PTA regulations.
Checking Your Registration Status
To check the status of your registration:
- Dial *#606# or send your IMEI number to 8484. You will receive information about the registration status of your device.
Importance of Registration
Registering your device not only complies with local laws but also protects you from the risks associated with unregistered devices, such as service blocks or security issues. Additionally, it ensures that you are contributing to the legal import and use of mobile devices in Pakistan, which supports the local economy and infrastructure development.
